According to authorities, two people were murdered and four others were injured when a container toppled, crossed the divider, and crashed with five cars on the Mumbai-Pune Expressway in Maharashtra’s Raigad district on Monday morning.
According to officials, the incident occurred about 9.00 a.m. in the district’s Khopoli neighborhood, when the driver of the container lost control of the wheels, overturned the vehicle, and collided with five oncoming vehicles in the other lane.
“The container was en route to Mumbai from Pune lost control due to high speed and overturned after crossing into the other lane,” police said. According to officials, the accident caused five cars to collide with the container. Two people were killed on the scene, including a woman, and four others were injured.
“Injured people have been rushed to the hospital, and we are further looking into the incident,” they added. More information about the situation is awaited.
