Former Indian Spinner and AAP Rajya Sabha MP Harbhajan Singh cast his vote in the last and final phase of Lok Sabha Elections 2024 on Saturday.
After casting his vote, he appealed to everyone to come out and vote for the government that could work for them.
“Today is a very important day for all of us and I would appeal to everyone to come out and vote and elect a government that can work for you,” Harbhajan told ANI.
The INDIA bloc candidate in Jalandhar is former Punjab Chief Minister Charanjit Channi, who is running against Sushil Rinku of the BJP, Pawan Kumar Tinu of the AAP, and Mohinder Singh Kaypee of the Akali Dal. On Saturday, Punjab’s 13 parliamentary seats will cast their final votes.
The world’s greatest polling marathon, which started on the 19th of last month and has now covered six stages and 486 Lok Sabha seats, comes to a spectacular conclusion with the seventh phase.
Over 10.06 crore electors, comprising roughly 5.24 crore male, 4.82 crore female, and 3574 third gender electors, are anticipated to exercise their right to vote, according to the Election Commission of India.
Mock elections were held in a number of polling places across the nation, including those in South Kolkata’s Rashbehari Assembly constituency in Jadavpur, West Bengal.
Additionally, mock polling was done at a polling place in the 35 Karakat constituency, the Arrah Assembly constituency of the Bhojpur district in Bihar, the Balasore Lok Sabha constituency in Odisha, the Dumka constituency in Jharkhand, and Hamirpur in Himachal Pradesh.
There are 904 contenders competing in the last round of voting. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, leaders of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Ravi Shankar Prasad, Nishikant Dubey, and Ravneet Singh Bittu, leaders of the Congress Manish Tewari, Charanjit Singh Channi, leader of the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD), Harsimrat Kaur Badal, and Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) are among the well-known contenders in this phase of the race.
The seven States in which polling is scheduled include Bihar, Himachal Pradesh, Jharkhand, Odisha, Punjab, Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal and the Union Territory of Chandigarh. Polling for the remaining 42 Assembly Constituencies of the Odisha State Legislative Assembly will also take place simultaneously.
The polling for 28 States/UTs and 486 parliamentary constituencies has been completed smoothly and peacefully. The counting of votes will take place on June 4.
