On Thursday, the Kerala Government announced that 12 individuals from the State have been identified among the victims of the major fire in Kuwait’s Mangaf area.

The Cabinet decided that Health Minister Veena George and an IAS officer will immediately travel to Kuwait.

This decision was made during an emergency cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan earlier in the day.

The State government also announced financial aid of Rs 5 lakh for the families of the deceased and Rs 1 lakh for those injured.

In light of the tragic incident, the Kerala government has cancelled the inaugural ceremony of Loka Kerala Sabha.

“The Lok Kerala Sabha meeting will be held on June 14 and 15 as scheduled. However, there will be no celebrations,” the CMO stated.

Further details are awaited.
