Rajya Sabha MP Kartikeya Sharma raised the issue of details regarding airports covered under the Krishi Udan Scheme in the country, particularly in Haryana, and inquired about the total tonnage of agricultural products transported from Haryana. In a written reply, Minister of State in the Ministry of Civil Aviation V. K. Singh stated that Krishi Udan Scheme 2.0 was announced on October 27, 2021, with a primary focus on transporting perishable food products from hilly areas, North Eastern States, and tribal regions. The minister highlighted that Krishi Udan Scheme 2.0 encompasses 58 airports, with a specific emphasis on the North Eastern, hilly, and tribal regions, among others. He explained that the Krishi Udan Scheme is a convergence initiative involving eight ministries and departments, namely the Ministry of Civil Aviation, Department of Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare, Department of Animal Husbandry and Dairying, Department of Fisheries, Ministry of Food Processing Industries, Department of Commerce, Ministry of Tribal Affairs, and Ministry of Development of North-Eastern Region.
