Karnataka Health Minister Dinesh Gundu Rao directed authorities on Friday to monitor dengue-infected persons for 14 days and asked Bengaluru civic and health officials to adopt all preventative steps to control the vector-borne disease in the city.
Rao visited the dengue hot sites in Yelahanka and stated that greater attention is being made to manage the illness in the city.
“Dengue cases have decreased in several districts. Bengaluru accounts for 50% of the state’s total dengue cases. As a result, I have asked the BBMP (Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike) and Health Department authorities in Bengaluru to pay more attention and bring dengue under control,” he told reporters.
Rao stated that the health department has been making continual efforts to manage dengue and that they anticipate to see a decrease in incidence starting next month.
Deputy director-level personnel are being dispatched to dengue hotspots in ten districts. Officials will visit the hotspots for two days beginning July 29 to ensure the execution of dengue control measures. A dengue hotspot is established when more than two positive cases are reported, he explained.
“If more cases are found, fever clinics will be opened and all those with fever will be subjected to dengue testing,” he added.
