Speaking to NBC, Harris highlighted that her campaign isn’t just about breaking historic barriers but about addressing a nation “exhausted” by Donald Trump’s leadership, which she characterized as self-centered.
Meanwhile, Trump, campaigning in North Carolina, framed the election as a stark choice between continuing “four more years of incompetence” under Harris and her running mate Tim Walz, or entering “the four greatest years” in American history. He also hurled insults at the Democratic candidates, calling them “stupid.”
The tight race between Harris and Trump has been marked by deep polarization, fears of post-election unrest, and concerns over whether Trump will accept the results. Trump, who still refuses to acknowledge his 2020 loss to Joe Biden, faces multiple criminal charges. When asked, Harris said her campaign is prepared for the possibility of Trump prematurely claiming victory amid what could be a lengthy vote-counting process.
Joe Biden, largely absent from the campaign trail, made a rare appearance in New Hampshire where he adapted Trump’s infamous “Lock her up” chant to suggest “locking Trump up”—though he quickly clarified he meant politically.
Harris has enlisted two of her party’s biggest stars, Barack and Michelle Obama, to energize voters. During a rally in Madison, former President Obama took aim at Trump, urging supporters to vote. Rapper Eminem also added star power to Harris’s campaign, introducing Obama at an event in Detroit. Meanwhile, Trump continued to repeat conspiracy theories and praise authoritarian figures, with former aide John Kelly confirming Trump’s fascist tendencies in a report to The New York Times.
As Election Day approaches, over 18 million Americans have already cast their ballots, setting the stage for what promises to be a historic result on November 5. Voters will either elect the first woman president or send the first convicted felon to the White House.
