Kamala Harris’s presidential campaign raised a whooping amount of $55 million over the weekend during two high-profile fundraising events, as per campaign official. The first event took place on Saturday at the Palace of Fine Arts in San Francisco, where Harris raised $27 million. The event featured remarks from former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and a performance by singer Andra Day.
Following that, Harris held a second fundraising event in downtown Los Angeles, which brought in an additional $28 million. The Los Angeles event showcased performances by notable artists, including Alanis Morissette and Halle Bailey, and was attended by several celebrities, such as Keegan-Michael Key, Sterling K. Brown, Demi Lovato, Jessica Alba, Lily Tomlin, and Stevie Wonder.
During the events, Harris emphasized her economic policies, identifying herself as a capitalist and framing the upcoming election as a critical moment for the nation. She expressed confidence in her chances of winning while acknowledging her status as the underdog in the race, especially with the election just weeks away.
In August, Harris’s campaign and the Democratic Party collectively raised $361 million, providing her with a significant financial advantage over her Republican rival, Donald Trump, whose campaign, along with the Republican Party, raised $130 million that month. As the Nov. 5 presidential election approaches, the two candidates remain in a tight race, with a recent Reuters/Ipsos poll indicating Harris leading Trump 47% to 40%, though other polls suggest a closer competition.
