Nag Ashwin’s new sci-fi movie Kalki 2898 AD is doing very well worldwide, making over ₹900 crore in just 11 days since it came out. The film stars famous actors Prabhas, Deepika Padukone, Amitabh Bachchan, and Kamal Haasan, and has won the hearts of many fans around the world.

Director Nag Ashwin talked about what inspired him to make the film in an interview with Zoom. He said he loved watching Marvel films, and ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ had a big influence on him. He also mentioned ‘Star Wars’ as a major inspiration, saying it’s a big part of his style.
Ashwin explained that Kamal Haasan’s character, Supreme Yaskin, was inspired by Tibetan monks and Dorian Grey, not Voldemort from Harry Potter, as many people thought. He also named some characters after famous ones from Star Wars and Harry Potter, like Luke Skywalker and Sirius Black.
Kalki 2898 AD is set in a future world and tells the story of Bhairava (Prabhas), a bounty hunter who wants to earn enough money to live in a special place for the rich called the Complex. Along the way, he meets SU-M80 (Deepika Padukone), a pregnant lab subject, and Ashwatthama (Amitabh Bachchan).
