Netflix may have accidentally spilled the beans on the much-awaited release date of the highly anticipated next instalment of Squid Game. Ever since the cliff-hanger season 2 finale, fans have been at the edge of their seats with speculations about a 2025 release. However, a now-deleted teaser from Netflix Korea has caused a buzz and created speculations that they might not have to wait as long as they had feared.
The teaser, that featured the young robot Young Hee and her new friend Chul Su briefly surfaced online carrying a title stating it would premiere on June 27, 2025. The teaser, however, soon disappeared, leaving many speculations whether this is an honest error or a publicity stunt by Netflix. Either way, the short wait for further continuation of the series has fanned the eagerness among global viewers.
Season 3 of Squid Game is going to be positioned as a direct continuation of the second season rather than a standalone instalment. According to the creator, Hwang Dong Hyuk, his idea for the series changed as the show became successful worldwide, which is why the story developed. The following episodes will further reveal Gi-hun’s story when he goes back into the game and seeks justice and revolution.
Both seasons 2 and 3 are produced at the same time. This is pretty much one story arc split into two parts. Netflix calls this upcoming release Season 3, but it’s more of a resolution to what was set up in Season 2. Fans are waiting eagerly for confirmation in hopes of getting another round of suspense, drama, and shocking twists.
