JP Nadda Visits LK Advani’s Residence to Renew BJP Membership

BJP President JP Nadda on Thursday visited the residence of party founder and veteran leader LK Advani to renew his membership under the party’s ‘Sangathan Parva, Sadasyata Abhiyan 2024’ campaign. Nadda’s visit was part of the BJP’s ongoing membership drive aimed at expanding the party’s base ahead of crucial upcoming elections.

After the visit, Nadda shared a post on X (formerly Twitter), stating, “Gave a copy of membership renewal under ‘Bharatiya Janata Party – National Membership Campaign’ to senior leader and our ideal, respected Shri Lal Krishna Advani ji at his residence in New Delhi. Your unwavering dedication to the organization is admirable and always inspires us.”

Later in the day, Nadda is scheduled to visit senior BJP leader Murli Manohar Joshi to renew his membership as part of the campaign.

The BJP launched its national membership drive on September 2, with a focus on attracting new members, particularly among women, youth, and in regions where the party has traditionally been weaker. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has urged party members to make special efforts to strengthen the BJP’s organizational reach.

As part of the drive, BJP National General Secretary Radha Mohan Das Agarwal renewed the membership of former Union Minister Vijay Kumar Malhotra at his residence on Thursday morning. Northwest Delhi MP Yogendra Chandolia was also present at the event. Malhotra expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to renew his association with the BJP.

According to Article 9 of the BJP’s constitution, party membership must be renewed every six years. The current drive, overseen by General Secretary Vinod Tawde, aims to add 10 crore members to the BJP. The membership campaign will run in two phases, from September 2-25 and October 1-15, with members able to sign up via missed calls, the NaMo app, QR codes, and traditional forms.

In Uttar Pradesh, Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak reported that over 27,000 individuals had signed up for BJP membership online, reflecting the party’s strong public support.

The BJP’s membership drive is seen as a strategic move to strengthen its grassroots presence ahead of the upcoming national and state elections.
