Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi expressed confidence on Friday that the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) and Congress alliance will form the next government in Jharkhand. With elections scheduled for November, Gogoi dismissed BJP leaders’ claims, asserting that voters in the state are satisfied with the work of JMM and Congress.
Congress general secretary KC Venugopal and state in-charge Ghulam Ahmad Mir arrived in Jharkhand earlier today. They were welcomed with traditional music and drums at Ranchi airport. Venugopal echoed Gogoi’s optimism, speaking to the press, stating, “We are very confident that we will win and form our government again.”
Jharkhand Minister and Congress candidate from Jamshedpur-West, Banna Gupta, highlighted the INDIA bloc’s focus on maximizing performance in the upcoming elections. He shared that the alliance will deliberate on strategies to ensure a strong poll showing.
The BJP, meanwhile, has questioned Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren’s age, pointing out discrepancies in his affidavits. According to BJP leaders, Soren’s age increased by seven years between 2019 and 2023, sparking allegations of irregularities.
The Jharkhand Assembly elections will be held across 81 constituencies in two phases on November 13 and November 20, with vote counting set for November 23.
