Jammu and Kashmir Police discovered old and rusty firearms and ammunition at a terrorist hideout in Reasi district. The findings included 30 AK-47 rounds, one AK-47 rifle magazine, and one HE-36 hand grenade, according to officials.
“Acting on reliable information regarding the presence of a terrorist hideout in the general area of Mahore Sub Division, a cordon and search operation was launched by the Reasi Police. The operation was led by the police party of Police Component Shikari, along with Deputy.Superintendent of Police PC Sarh Mahore, at Dalantop area of Mahore,” as per a press release.
During the search and cordon operation, the police recovered aged and deteriorated weapons and ammunition from the Dalantop area of Shikari, as stated in the police release.
“While sharing the details, SSP Reasi, Mohita Sharma, said that all possible measures should be taken to thwart the nefarious design of anti-national elements,” as per the release.
Further investigations is underway.
Meanwhile, according to officials, the Indian Army successfully neutralized three determined foreign terrorists who were attempting to cross the Line of Control (LoC) in the Keran Sector of Kupwara District, Jammu and Kashmir. Acting on reliable intelligence, multiple ambushes were strategically positioned along the suspected infiltration route during the night of July 13-14.
Brigadier NR Kulkarni, Commander of the 268th Infantry Brigade in the Keran Sector, explained that they had received intelligence indicating terrorists were attempting to disrupt peace in the region. He further noted that the terrorists were heavily armed, well-trained, and equipped with advanced weaponry.
“In the ensuing intense firefight, three foreign terrorists were neutralised. A detailed search of the area was subsequently carried out, which led to the recovery of large quantities of war-like stores,” he said.
