Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan‘s vehicle became stuck in a muddy pothole in Jharkhand’s Baharagora area due to heavy rains while he was en route to a public rally. The incident, which occurred on September 23, 2024, briefly halted his journey as security personnel rushed to assist. Chouhan had to switch to another vehicle to continue to the rally, where he addressed a large crowd, emphasizing the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) commitment to addressing local issues like employment and protecting Jharkhand’s resources.

Despite the challenging weather, the rally continued with enthusiasm. Chouhan took the opportunity to criticize the current state government, accusing it of failing to prevent illegal immigration and threatening local livelihoods. He promised that if the BJP were voted to power, the party would fill over 2.87 lakh vacant government posts and implement the National Register of Citizens (NRC) to protect Jharkhand’s “roti, beti, and mati”

Chouhan was en route to address a public rally as part of the BJP’s Parivartan Yatra ahead of the upcoming state elections, had to switch vehicles after the incident. Despite the weather and this minor setback, the rally continued with great enthusiasm. Chouhan took the opportunity to promise jobs and outline his party’s commitment to addressing pressing local issues, including protecting Jharkhand’s land, livelihood, and the safety of its daughters.

The Parivartan Yatra is part of a larger effort by the BJP to mobilize support against the Hemant Soren-led government. Chouhan emphasized that the BJP would fill 2.87 lakh vacant government posts if elected, and criticized the current administration for its alleged failures, including poor management of resources and unchecked infiltration into the state.
