Union Health Minister and BJP national president J.P. Nadda has strongly condemned the recent rape and murder of a post-graduate student at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital in West Bengal. Describing the incident as “heart-wrenching” and deeply unsettling, Nadda expressed his dismay over the brutal act and criticised the state government’s handling of the situation.

In a statement, Nadda expressed his indignation over both, the incident and the alleged attempts by the West Bengal government to suppress and obscure the case. “The incident that took place with the young woman PG student in West Bengal is really heart-wrenching and has shaken the world and the country. I condemn it and express great sorrow that such an inhumane incident has happened. The way the incident took place and the way the government has tried to hide it, no amount of condemnation will be enough”, Nadda said.

Nadda highlighted the increasing lawlessness and rising violence against women in West Bengal, despite the presence of a woman chief minister. He pointed out that the deterioration of law and order in the state is particularly troubling.

The union minister welcomed the High Court’s decision to mandate a CBI investigation into the case, expressing confidence that the inquiry would uncover the truth. Nadda assured that the central government would take appropriate action against those responsible for the incident. “I have assured everyone that the Central Government will take action against anyone connected with this incident. I will definitely find a remedy for this and I am sure that whatever steps are necessary for this, the Government and the Ministry will take them”, said Nadda.

Over the past two days, delegations from various Doctors’ Associations have met with Nadda, who reiterated his commitment to addressing the issue and ensuring justice for the victim.
