250 Palestinian terrorists were captured by Israeli soldiers in Khan Yunis, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) announced on Wednesday.
Working with the elite Shayetet 13 unit, members of the IDF’s Commando Brigade raided terror infrastructure in the Hamad Towers region of the city.
Many terrorists, including two Hamas squad commanders and the commander of a Hamas sniper cell, were captured by the army when they turned themselves in.
Large quantities of weaponry, including Kalashnikov rifles, grenades, vests, RPGs, explosives, ammunition, explosive kits, and closed-circuit diving systems meant for use by terrorists and the military, were also taken by the soldiers.
Other terrorists connected to the Palestinian Islamic Jihad were also taken into custody.
Dozens of terrorists were apprehended fleeing among the people in recent days when Israeli soldiers evacuated inhabitants from the towers.
Terrorists from Hamas’s elite Nukhba unit have been detained, some of whom took part in the October 7 massacre. Many people are already being questioned, according to the IDF.
Constructed with funds from Qatar after the 2012 Gaza War, the Hamad storeys are a residential complex consisting of forty storeys that were first opened in 2016.
The second-largest city in Gaza, Khan Yunis is thought to be Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar’s personal stronghold.
On October 7, Hamas attacked Israeli communities close to the Gaza border, resulting in at least 1,200 deaths and the kidnapping of 240 Israelis and foreigners. Israel has declared 31 hostages out of the remaining 134 to be dead.
