Seedhe Maut is a prominent Indian hip-hop duo consisting of Encore ABJ (Abhijay Negi) and Calm (Siddhant Sharma). Known for their powerful lyrics and energetic performances, they’ve made a mark on the Indian/ Desi hip-hop scene, addressing social issues and personal stories through their music. Their influence on contemporary hip-hop culture in India is significant, drawing a diverse audience with their authentic style.

SOS (Straight Outta Srinagar) is a rap duo from Kashmir, featuring Tufail & Aatanki.

In 2020, both Seedhe Maut and SOS were under the label ‘Azadi Records’. SOS teased their debut EP ‘KEEF’, with each track starting with the letter ‘K’, though it wasn’t official.

Later in 2021, Seedhe Maut announced their mixtape ‘न’, using a similar concept of starting each track with the Hindi alphabet न. SOS, felt that their concept was copied, and confronted Mo Joshi, CEO of Azadi Records, who denied knowing the same. Rumors suggested Joshi favored Seedhe Maut wanting more profit, possibly leaking the concept to Seedhe Maut.

SOS recorded a diss track but didn’t release it immediately. Tensions grew when Seedhe Maut released ‘NATKHAT’, which SOS felt contained shots at them. Encore later clarified no direct diss was intended. A year later, a leaked SOS diss track surfaced, adding fuel to the feud.

In response, Seedhe Maut dropped a freestyle titled “Lunch Break India Tour Begins!”, addressing the beef. Rumors circulated about personal involvement, including a romantic history between Encore’s partner and Tufail. SOS played snippets of their unreleased diss track during a livestream, featuring a voice note from Encore’s partner.

Recently, Calm replied to SOS with ‘Raita’ from the ‘Junkie’ project by frappe ash, continuing the back-and-forth between the two rap duos.

SOS has been teasing their unreleased diss track for quite some time now, and recently a fan asked Encore on Discord if he would release a diss track for SOS to which Encore replied that he would keep the disses in the vault for now as he does not want to give SOS any clout whatsoever.

Fans of the DHH (Desi Hip Hop) scene are mostly siding with Seedhe Maut in this controversy as they are the more popular and loved duo while some others are divided on the issue and question whether the reason for Encore not dropping a diss against SOS is what he is saying it to be or if he is scared and waiting for what SOS has to say in their diss track against Seedhe Maut.

For now, all we can do is wait and see how the feud unfolds once SOS’ diss track is released.
