Iranian Government Releases 52 Afghan Citizens from Al-Ghadir Prison

According to Afghanistan’s Nimroz province, the Iranian government has released 52 Afghan citizens from Al-Ghadir prison in Zahedan. Yar Mohammad Haqyar, the Taliban’s newly appointed Minister of Foreign Relations in Nimroz, made the announcement, praising the coordinated efforts of representatives from the Afghan consulate in Zahedan and the Taliban embassy in Tehran.

The released individuals had been detained by Iranian police for lacking legal documents. This release follows the tenth round of prisoner releases, where a total of 200 prisoners were freed from various prisons in Iran. Over the past months, 680 prisoners have been released in ten phases and handed over to Taliban authorities in Nimroz.

The head of the foreign ministry representation office in Nimroz confirmed the release and underscored the ongoing trend of arresting and deporting illegal Afghan migrants in Iran and Pakistan. The Ministry of Refugees and Repatriation of the Taliban recently reported the release of 15 Afghan citizens from prisons in Pakistan.

The diplomatic efforts and cooperation between the Taliban and Iranian authorities in facilitating these releases mark a notable development in regional relations.
