IPL 2025 Auction Expected In Riyadh: Cricket’s Biggest Bids To Unfold On Nov 24-25

The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 mega auction is likely slated for November 24 and 25 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, though the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has yet to confirm the exact dates and location. According to insiders, the arrangements are nearing completion, with an official announcement expected shortly.

However, scheduling complications have surfaced, as the auction falls during India’s Test series against Australia in Perth, running from November 22 to 26. Disney Star, which broadcasts both the IPL and India-Australia Test series, is keen on avoiding direct timing conflicts between the two events. Fortunately, the time zone difference with Australia means that an afternoon auction slot (IST) could prevent any overlap with the match broadcasts.

As the IPL 2025 auction approaches, excitement is building as franchises gear up to make strategic bids on marquee players. Key names generating buzz include Rishabh Pant, Shreyas Iyer, KL Rahul, Arshdeep Singh, and Ishan Kishan. Known for their prowess in T20 cricket, these players offer a blend of powerful batting, leadership, and agile fielding, making them highly sought-after assets for teams aiming for a competitive 2025 season.

While several franchises have disclosed their retained players, the aforementioned stars are expected to ignite intense bidding battles. Pant’s dynamic role as a wicketkeeper-batsman, Iyer’s leadership potential, and Rahul’s reliable performance with the bat stand out as particularly valuable qualities in the fast-paced IPL environment.

Reports reveal that BCCI officials have already made preliminary visits to Saudi Arabia to evaluate potential venues, with another team scheduled to visit on Monday to finalize arrangements. Initially, Jeddah was considered; however, Riyadh has since become the front-runner for hosting the auction. While locations like Dubai, Singapore, and Vienna were also explored, Saudi Arabia appears to have emerged as the top choice.

In light of this international move, IPL franchises are urging the BCCI to confirm the venue and dates soon to facilitate travel and logistics. With the retention deadline set for October 31, teams are finalizing their player rosters before focusing on the upcoming auction.
