IPL 2024: Mumbai Indians (MI) batsman Suryakumar Yadav equalled former captain Rohit Sharma for the most centuries in IPL history for the five-time champions. He achieved this milestone during their clash against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) at Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium. Coming in at 31/3, Yadav’s explosive 102* off 51 balls, including 12 fours and six sixes, turned the tide for MI, securing victory with a strike rate of 200.00.

Both Yadav and Sharma now have two IPL centuries each for MI, with other players like Sachin Tendulkar, Sanath Jayasuriya, Lendl Simmons, and Cameron Green contributing one century each. Among Indian players, Yadav ranks joint third in T20 centuries, alongside Ruturaj Gaikwad and KL Rahul, while Sharma leads with eight centuries, and Virat Kohli tops the list with nine.

Moreover, Yadav shares the second-most T20 centuries while batting at number four or below, alongside David Miller and Dasun Shanaka, trailing behind Glenn Maxwell. In the current IPL season, Yadav has amassed 334 runs in nine matches at an average of 41.75 and a strike rate of 176.71, including one century and three fifties, with an unbeaten 102* being his highest score. In the recent match, MI opted to field first, restricting SRH to 173/8. Despite early setbacks, Yadav’s partnership with Tilak Varma (37*) propelled MI to victory, earning Yadav the ‘Player of the Match’ award. MI stands ninth with four wins and eight losses, while SRH holds fourth place with six wins and five losses.
