IndiGo Flight to Guwahati Diverted to Dhaka Due to Unfavorable Weather Conditions

An IndiGo flight bound for Guwahati, originating from Mumbai with flight number 6E 5319, faced an unexpected diversion to Dhaka due to adverse weather conditions at the Guwahati airport. The pilot, initially planning to land in Kolkata, redirected the flight to Bhubaneswar, where the runway closure led to the final decision to land in Dhaka, the nearest available airport.

IndiGo officially confirmed the diversion of the Guwahati-bound flight and issued a detailed statement addressing the circumstances. According to the statement, “IndiGo flight 6E 5319 from Mumbai to Guwahati was diverted to Dhaka, Bangladesh, due to bad weather in Guwahati.”

In response to the situation, the airline company has taken steps to minimize passenger inconvenience. “Due to operational reasons, an alternate set of crew is being arranged to operate the flight from Dhaka to Guwahati. The passengers were kept informed of updates and were served refreshments on board. We sincerely regret the inconvenience caused,” the statement added.

The delay has affected some passengers associated with the Congress party, as they were reportedly en route to Guwahati for the Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra scheduled to begin from Imphal on January 14. Suraj Thakur, a Congress worker and AICC delegate, shared on social media, “I took @IndiGo6E flight 6E 5319 from Mumbai to Guwahati. But due to dense fog, the flight couldn’t land in Guwahati. Instead, it landed in Dhaka. Now, all the passengers are in Bangladesh without their passports; we are inside the plane.”
