In a very sad and shocking event, an Indian Army soldier named Sepoy Serto Thangthang Kom was taken from his home in a Manipur village and tragically lost his life. He was on a break from his army duties when this terrible thing happened. He was forcefully taken from his home in Imphal West district on a Saturday, and his body was found the next morning.
The abduction occurred around 10 AM, and chillingly, the soldier’s 10-year-old son was the sole eyewitness to this horrifying incident. Reportedly, three armed assailants brazenly entered their home while Sepoy Kom and his son were working on the porch.
Sepoy Kom, who had been stationed at the Leimakhong Military Station in Manipur, leaves behind his grieving family – a wife and two children – who are now left to grapple with an unimaginable loss.
In a statement issued by the Defence PRO, the harrowing details of the abduction emerged. “Sepoy Serto was abducted from his home at about 10:00 am on September 16, 2023,” the statement reads. The soldier’s young son, the only witness to the crime, recounted how three miscreants invaded their home. The intruders, armed and dangerous, placed a pistol against Sepoy Kom’s head, coercing him into a white-colored vehicle, in which they swiftly drove away.
Tragically, the soldier’s lifeless body was discovered at Khuningthek village, situated to the east of Mongjam in Imphal East. The identity of the deceased was confirmed by his distraught brother and brother-in-law, who heartbreakingly observed a single bullet wound on his head. Sepoy Kom leaves behind a devastated family, comprising his wife, daughter, and son, who must now navigate the arduous path of healing and recovery after this senseless act of violence. The entire community mourns this grievous loss, as they grapple with the profound impact of this tragedy on their lives.
