In a shocking incident that has sparked outrage, a group of about 30 people allegedly thrashed a priest at the Mata Tekri temple in Dewas, Madhya Pradesh, after being refused entry post-midnight. The incident occurred on the night of April 7, when the priest, who had already closed the temple gates, was forced to open them by a group led by a man with a criminal record.

The group, which arrived in a fleet of 8 to 10 cars, including vehicles with red beacons, reportedly included individuals who intimidated and threatened the priest when he informed them that the temple was closed for the night. “We close the temple gates by midnight. The group led by Jitu Raghuvanshi came around 12:40 am when I had already shut the gates. When I told them that the temple was closed, they forced me to open the gates and threatened to kill me. They also beat me,” the priest told NDTV.
