Life in Jammu city came to a standstill as heavy rains late last night led to severe water logging across several parts of the city. Major localities including Gandhi Nagar, Nanak Nagar, Greater Kailash, Shastri Nagar, and Talab Tillo were significantly affected.
The Meteorological Department had predicted the heavy rains a few days in advance, but the intensity of the downpour has still managed to disrupt daily life. Massive traffic jams were observed as waterlogged streets made commuting nearly impossible for residents.
Ravinder Singh, who was stuck in the rain stated, “The drainage system has totally collapsed. Even after a little rain, water logging disturbs normal life. This is happening when the government claims that we have developed Jammu as a smart city.”
Rajni Bala, whose scooty was stopped in the waterlogged streets of Gandhi Nagar, questioned the authorities, “Where is the government? Where is the municipal corporation?”
The situation continues to be monitored as authorities work to clear the water and restore normalcy in the city.
