Officials confirmed that Security forces demolished three additional homes of suspected terrorists on Sunday. As a result, the total number of homes destroyed now stands at nine since the Pahalgam terror attack on April 22.

The demolitions took place between April 26 and 27. Specifically, the targeted homes were in Zainapora (Shopian), Daramdora (Pulwama), and Naz Colony (Bandipora). These residents are suspected of being involved in terrorism.

Terrorists Linked to Lashkar-e-Taiba

According to officials, all the suspects are linked to the Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) group. Notably, Dar is connected to LeT’s offshoot, The Resistance Front (TRF), which claimed responsibility for the Pahalgam attack. Furthermore, Ahmad has reportedly been operating from Pakistan since 2017.

Political Leaders React

The demolitions have sparked reactions from various political leaders in Jammu & Kashmir. Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, for instance, called for strong action against terrorism. He stated on X, “After the Pahalgam terror attack, there must be a decisive fight against terrorism and its origin. People of Kashmir have come out openly against terrorism and the murder of innocent people, they did this freely & spontaneously.”

However, he also emphasized the need to protect innocent civilians. He further wrote, “Punish the guilty, show them no mercy but don’t let innocent people become collateral damage.”

Mufti Calls for Caution

Former CM and PDP leader Mehbooba Mufti echoed similar sentiments, urging the government to tread carefully. She posted on X, “It must not alienate innocent people, especially those opposing terror.”

Moreover, Mufti expressed concerns about the arrests and demolitions following the Pahalgam attack. She warned that such actions could inadvertently help terrorists by spreading fear and division. As a result, she urged the government to ensure innocent people do not suffer. She concluded, “Appeal Government to direct the authorities to take care that innocent people are not made to feel the brunt as alienation aids terrorists’ goals of division and fear.”
