From AI to Nuclear Energy: PM Modi’s Key Agenda in France

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will co-chair the third Artificial Intelligence (AI) Action Summit with French President Emmanuel Macron on his 3 days France visit. This trip seeks to fortify the India-France relations and emphasize important sectors like artificial intelligence (AI), nuclear power, commerce, and strategic partnerships.

PM Modi will attend a special banquet thrown by President Macron upon arrival to recognize visiting heads of state and top business executives. The dinner will gather high-profile business people, legislators, and technology sector delegates.

AI Action Summit, One Step toward Responsible AI

PM Modi will be at the AI Action Summit, a major international event carrying on talks started in the UK (2023) and South Korea (2024), on February 11. Responsible and ethical AI and its effects on the world economy will be front and center at the summit.

Noting the significance of the summit, Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri said, “Prime Minister Modi will be among world leaders at the summit to debate and influence the direction of artificial intelligence.”

The summit will address several facets of artificial intelligence management, creativity, and security. Leaders will seek to create global standards for the ethical use of artificial intelligence, openness, and safety.

Principal Bilateral Meetings in France

Besides the summit, PM Modi will have top-level discussions with President Macron and speak at the India-France CEOs Forum. In delegation-level and behind-closed-doors meetings, both leaders will go over trade, technical cooperation, and strategic defense partnerships.

PM Modi will fly to Marseille next on February 11 and have dinner in his honor hosted by President Macron. They will go on February 12 to the Mazargues War Cemetery to honor the Indian soldiers who battled in World War I.

The opening of the Consulate General of India in Marseille will be among the major flashpoints of the visit. Cadarache, which houses the International Thermonuclear Experimental Reactor (ITER), a project in which India is crucial for the development of nuclear fusion energy, will also be visited by the two heads.

Modi with US President Trump’s Fresh Government

PM Modi will fly to the United States on February 12-13 to see President Donald Trump, their first meeting since Trump’s re-election, after finishing his visit to France.

Prime Minister Modi and President Trump will discuss bilateral trade, defense connections, energy cooperation, and security. Building on previous collaboration in domains such as defense technology, space exploration, and corporate collaborations, this visit is expected to strengthen India-US ties even further.

India-France Connect

France ranks among Europe’s most trusted partners of India as their strategic alliance has been in place since January 26, 1998. India and France work together on space technology, civil nuclear power, defense, and security.

In the past years, the collaboration of India and France has grown to cover maritime security, cyber security, digital transformation, counterterrorism, climate change, and sustainable development.

The Indo-French cooperation is also vital for India’s visibility in the Indo-Pacific area, guaranteeing stability and security of sea trade routes.
