The President of India, Droupadi Murmu, on Friday visited the Basilica of St. Peter in Vatican City to pay her respects to Pope Francis, who died at 88 years old. Pope Francis’ funeral has been announced for Saturday.
With Union Minister Kiren Rijiju, Minister George Kurian, and Goa Deputy Speaker Joshua De Souza, President Murmu is on a two-day visit to pay condolences on India’s behalf.

On April 26, the president will be present at Pope Francis’ funeral Mass at St. Peter’s Square, to which global dignitaries are invited. The Ministry of External Affairs had announced that India had declared three days of state mourning after the death of Pope Francis.
As per reports from Vatican, about 164 delegations, of which 54 are heads of state and 12 reigning sovereigns, have confirmed attendance at the funeral.
