As a part of humanitarian assistance, India has recently sent a consignment of 90 tonnes of ‘made in India’ active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs) to Cuba on Sunday.
Taking to X, the ministry of external affairs spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal made this announcement.

Furthermore, the API’s consignment has left from Gujarat’s Mudra Port today.
While highlighting benefits of API, MEA spokesperson Jaiswal further revealed, that this consignment will be used for the production of essential medicines for Caribbean people.
“These APIs will be used by the Cuban Drug Manufacturers to produce essential antibiotics in the dosage form of tablets, capsules, syrups and injections, needed for treatment of chronic communicable diseases.”
Later, it also underlined India’s commitment to historic friendship with Cuba.
According to MEA, both the countries enjoy a warm and friendly relationship. India was one the first country to recognize Cuba after 1959 revolution.
Cuba also agrees with India’s views on expansion and democratization of UN security council and holds reform of UN security council as central to overall reform process.
