India has made its third spot in the ICC ODI Team Rankings after a 10-wicket win over England in the first ODI at Kennington on Tuesday. As a result, India has overtaken the Pakistan team in the rankings.
Earlier, India was in fourth place with 105 points, and Pakistan was in third place with 106 points. But after their win over England, India gained two more rating points, and by 108 points, India reached the third spot. This pushed India into the top three, and Pakistan dropped to fourth. New Zealand ranks top with 126 points, followed by England with 122 points.
India bowled out England for 110 runs in the first ODI match. Where fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah was the main destroyer and took six wickets by giving 19 runs against England on Tuesday. Mohammed Shami took three wickets while Prasidh Krishna took one wicket.
Since becoming the full-time captain of India, Rohit Sharma has not lost a single ODI match so far. India has won 4 out of 4 ODIs under Rohit’s captaincy.
Meanwhile, Australia’s team had also slipped after losing the ODI series to Sri Lanka. Now India has reached third place after winning the first ODI against England.
However, India has a chance to extend its lead further with two more ODIs against England and a three-match series against West Indies this month. But if they lose the two ODIs against England, they can move to the fourth spot again.
