India Forms Committee to Monitor Bangladesh Border Situation

India has established a five-member committee to oversee the situation along the India-Bangladesh border. The Border Management Division of the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) announced the formation of this committee on Friday. The committee will coordinate with Bangladeshi authorities to ensure the safety of Indian citizens and minority communities in Bangladesh.

The committee will be chaired by Ravi Gandhi, Additional Director General of the Border Security Force (BSF), Eastern Command. It will also include the Inspector General (IG) of BSF Frontier HQ South Bengal, IG of BSF Frontier HQ Tripura, a Member (Planning and Development) from the Land Ports Authority of India (LPAI), and the Secretary of LPAI.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah announced the formation of the committee via a post on X. Shah stated that the committee is being set up in response to the ongoing situation in Bangladesh, and it will keep communication channels open with Bangladeshi authorities to safeguard Indian nationals, Hindus, and other minority communities living in Bangladesh.
