"Important Thing Is To Pick The Right People": Kapil Dev After Casting Vote

After casting his vote during the sixth phase of the Lok Sabha Election 2024 in Delhi on Saturday, former India cricketer Kapil Dev said it is important to pick the right candidate for their constituency.
Speaking to ANI after casting his vote, Kapil Dev said he feels happy that the people of India are under democracy.

“I feel very happy that we are under democracy. The important thing is to pick the right people for your constituency…What we can do is more important than what the government can do…,” Kapil said.

Former wrestler Babita Phogat and cricketer Gautam Gambhir also voted earlier in the day in their respective constituencies.

Amid strict security and preparations, voting for the sixth round of the ongoing Lok Sabha elections began early on Saturday morning across 58 parliamentary constituencies dispersed throughout six states and two Union Territories (UTs).
Voting opened at 7 a.m. and will run until 6 p.m. Those who were in line at closing time could still cast ballots.

The seven parliamentary constituencies in Delhi are Chandni Chowk, East Delhi, New Delhi, North East Delhi, North West Delhi, South Delhi, and West Delhi.
Over 11.13 crore voters will be exercising their franchise in the sixth phase of the general elections to decide the fate of 889 candidates including two former Chief Ministers – Manohar Lal Khattar contesting as the BJP candidate from Karnal and Mehbooba Mufti, the PDP nominee from Anantnag-Rajouri.

In the state, 20,031 voting places have been established. Among them are 219 auxiliary and 19,812 permanent polling places. 14,342 polling places are located in rural areas, and 5,470 polling places are located in metropolitan areas.

In the sixth phase of the general elections, more than 11.13 crore voters will cast ballots to choose between 889 candidates, including two former chief ministers: Mehbooba Mufti, the PDP nominee from Anantnag-Rajouri, and Manohar Lal Khattar, the BJP candidate from Karnal.

The sixth phase of Lok Sabha polls includes eight seats in Bihar, all 10 seats in Haryana, one seat in Jammu and Kashmir, four in Jharkhand, all seven seats in Delhi, six in Odisha, 14 in Uttar Pradesh, and eight in West Bengal.
