In a significant development, the Himachal Pradesh High Court issued notice to Bollywood actress and BJP MP Kangana Ranaut on Wednesday.
Himachal HC sends notice regarding the plea, in which Kinnaur resident Layak Ram Negi raises question over her electoral win and wants the whole electoral process annulled.
As per the plea, Negi claims that there were irregularities in the dealing of his nomination papers. Thus, it unfairly stopped him from participating in the election.
According to Negi, he had given his required nomination for Mandi Lok Sabha seat. But despite depositing all no-dues certificates and retiring early from forest department to contest the election, the returning officer (Deputy Commissioner, Mandi) did not admit the needed certificates and refused his nomination.
In his plea, he has also alleged if his nomination wasn’t refused, he might have won the election. Thus, he is asking for the annulment of the election results.
In addition, he has also revealed that he gave his nomination on May 14 and finished the required paperwork by May 15.
Currently, Justice Jyotsna Rewal has ordered Kangana to answer the plea by August 21.
