The Himachal Pradesh Medical Officers Association (HPMOA) has been angered by the reemployment and expansion of services for retired doctors. The association claims that this is jeopardizing the future of young doctors. In a virtual meeting convened under the chairmanship of Dr. Rajesh Rana, President of the Himachal Pradesh Medical Officers Association, on Friday, the association expressed concern that not promoting in the health department and re-employing retired doctors or expanding services is worrisome for the future of young medical practitioners.

The state president of the association, Dr. Rajesh Rana, and secretary Dr. Vikas Thakur said that the Chief Minister had promised the youth of the state that he would provide employment opportunities, but this promise regarding the future of young doctors has not yet been fulfilled. In the notification dated February 8, retired doctors were provided reemployment, which has also caused concern among all trainee doctors. Young doctors are also coming forward to support the demands of HPMOA. They said that there is currently a shortage of doctors in the state, and in this context, there is repeated deputation and transfer of doctors.

The failure of the department is evident from the repeated deputations and transfers, which doctors, along with their families and patients, are suffering from. Such actions are also deteriorating the trust and confidentiality between doctors and patients. The process should be halted immediately by quickly filling the vacant positions of doctors so that they do not have to face more mental harassment.

A meeting with the Chief Minister will be held on February 13.

They said that Friday is the 23rd day of the government not giving time for a conversation with the Chief Minister. However, in this context, the Himachal Pradesh Medical Officers Association will hold a discussion with the Chief Minister on Tuesday, February 13, and present all the issues before him. They expressed hope that the Chief Minister would promptly fulfill the demands of the association in the public interest.
