Hema Malini, in a recent interview with Lehren TV, addressed her living arrangement away from her husband, Dharmendra, and expressed that she does not feel saddened by it. During the conversation, she was referred to as a “symbol of feminism” for choosing to live in her own house after marriage.
In response, Hema Malini remarked, “Symbol of feminism? Nobody aspires to be in such a situation; it happens naturally. You have to accept it. No one willingly desires to live this way. Every woman desires to have a husband and children, a normal family. But somehow, things deviated from the conventional path.”
In addition, Hema Malini emphasized that Dharmendra has always been present in her life. She stated, “I am not feeling bad or sulking or sad about it. I am content with myself. I have raised my two children very well. Of course, he (Dharmendra) is there, always. Naturally, he has to be.
He was the one concerned about getting the children married early. I assured him it would happen. When the time is right, the right person will come along. With the blessings of God and our guru ma, everything fell into place.”
Dharmendra married Hema Malini, a popular film star at the time, in 1980. The couple has two daughters together, Esha and Ahana. Prior to his marriage to Hema Malini, Dharmendra tied the knot with Prakash Kaur in 1954 at the age of 19. They have four children together: Sunny, Bobby, Vijeeta, and Ajeeta.
