In a notable win for the Indian National Congress, former Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda has emerged victorious in the Garhi Sampla-Kiloi constituency, defeating Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate Manju by a margin of 71,465 votes, according to the Election Commission of India (ECI).

Congress Gains Ground Amidst BJP’s Overall Lead

Despite Congress trailing overall in the Haryana assembly elections, the party saw additional success with leader Aditya Surjewala winning the Kaithal assembly seat by 8,124 votes. His supporters celebrated his victory at his residence after defeating BJP’s Leela Ram.

In response to the election results, Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini expressed gratitude to the people of Haryana for endorsing the BJP for a third consecutive term. He attributed the party’s success to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, stating, “I had faith that the poor, farmers, and the youth of Haryana would bless me.”

Additionally, Congress candidate Vinesh Phogat secured victory in the Julana Assembly Constituency, defeating BJP’s Yogesh Kumar by a margin of 5,761 votes.

Concerns Over Vote Counting Discrepancies

Congress has raised concerns regarding discrepancies in the vote count data displayed by the Election Commission. Ramesh, Congress General Secretary in-charge of Communications, alleged a slowdown in updating the vote counting trends on the ECI website. In response, the Election Commission dismissed these claims, asserting that the counting process is being conducted in accordance with established rules and regulations. The ECI emphasized that the counting is being carried out transparently in the presence of candidates and observers, refuting allegations of any delay.
