Google’s Acquisition Of Cameyo Aims to Bring Windows Apps To ChromeOS Devices

Google has acquired Cameyo, a company specializing in virtualization tools for running Windows applications on ChromeOS devices, for an undisclosed amount.

The acquisition comes after Google’s partnership with Cameyo last year to enhance virtual application delivery on ChromeOS. This integration aims to provide users with a seamless experience accessing data and files through virtual apps securely and conveniently.

Naveen Viswanatha, Head of Product Management for ChromeOS, expressed that bringing Cameyo’s expertise in-house reflects Google’s commitment to delivering an optimized experience for virtualized applications.

ChromeOS has a strong focus on offering users the best virtual application experience. With Cameyo’s technology integrated, users can access critical legacy applications easily without complex installations or updates.

Google highlighted that this acquisition will accelerate businesses’ adoption of web-based technology by simplifying the deployment and accessibility of virtualized applications across organizations, irrespective of device or location.

Viswanatha emphasized the combined strength of ChromeOS and Cameyo in providing robust security through zero trust principles, enhancing data and system protection against vulnerabilities. This collaboration aims to help businesses modernize their IT infrastructure while leveraging existing software investments.
