The crime branch team arrested a drug trafficker. The arrested suspect is identified as Dheeraj Sharma alias Sunny from Daddu Majra village, Chandigarh. Police seized 30 grams of heroin from the suspect’s possession. The accused is being labelled to have criminal mindset. Previously, he was arrested in two cases at police stations 39 and 34, among others. Investigation revealed that he is an associate of gangster Bhupi Rana. Bhupi Rana is currently incarcerated in Bathinda jail and is known to his associates. The police revealed that he bought the heroin at a lower price from Raja Jhansi, Amritsar, and used to sell it at higher rates in the tri-city area. The accused Dheeraj was presented before the district court and obtained police remand to apprehend the main supplier. DSP Crime Udaypal Singh and Inspector Ashok Kumar provided information, stating that the police team arrested supplier Dheeraj Sharma based on confidential information. The suspect is associated with gangster Bhupi Rana and remained in constant contact with him. Gangster Bhupi Rana is currently in Bathinda jail. As per the sources, the police apprehended the suspect in the Turn Road near, Maloya area.. A case has been registered against the suspect under the NDPS Act at Mauli Jagran UT Chandigarh Police Station.
