The Ganesh Chaturthi spirit is alive and vibrant in Mumbai, where celebrations are known for their unparalleled energy. As the city buzzes with festivities and homes are adorned for Ganpati’s arrival, Swiggy has introduced a unique way to join the celebration.

Swiggy Instamart, the rapid grocery delivery service from Swiggy, has unveiled an Instant Modak dispenser on Bandra’s Carter Road. This innovative machine dispensed over 1,000 free modaks daily, offering a delightful treat to passersby. Modaks, the rice flour dumplings filled with jaggery-sweetened coconut, are a beloved part of Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations in Maharashtra. The traditional Ukadiche Modak is particularly cherished, as it is said to be a favorite of Lord Ganesh, who was fed these sweets by Goddess Parvati during his childhood. The shape of the modak symbolizes the universe, and its sweet filling represents the joy and happiness that Lord Ganesh bestows.

At the Insta-Modak counter, visitors could ring a bell inscribed with “Ghanti Vajwa, Mithai Milwa” (ring the bell, get the sweet) to receive an individually packed modak within seconds. This blend of tradition and technology quickly won many hearts over the two days the machine was stationed in Bandra. Phani Kishan Addepalli, Co-Founder of Swiggy, shared on X (formerly Twitter), “Ganapati Bappa Morya! Folks in amchi Mumbai – pls check out our Instamodak dispenser on Carter Road today and tomorrow and get into the festive spirit. Ring the bell and get your modak box instantly!”
