Four people in Hyderabad were arrested for allegedly posing as Income Tax officials and stealing gold biscuits worth Rs 60 lakh from a shop in the city, Telangana police said on Tuesday.

The accused were identified as Rehman Ghafoor Athar, Zakir Gani Athar, Praveen Yadav and Akash Arun Hovil, Hyderabad’s Commissioner of Police, CV Anand, said.
The Commissioner on 27 May said that eight to 10 people had been posing as Income Tax officials, stealing 17 gold biscuits worth Rs 60 lakh from a shop in Hyderabad’s Monda Market.

The police announced that they had recovered seven gold biscuits from the possession of the accused; efforts to arrest their co-conspirators as soon as possible are underway.

“On May 27, eight to 10 people posing as Income Tax officials stole 17 gold biscuits, worth Rs 60 lakh, from a shop named Siddhivinayak in Monda Market. The four accused persons have been arrested. Seven gold biscuits have been recovered from them. Other accused are at large but will be arrested soon,” the Commissioner added.
