Security forces are preparing to initiate a comprehensive operation aimed at eliminating Pakistani and local terrorists who are believed to be hiding in the high-altitude areas of the Kashmir valley, where they are strategically positioned to carry out attacks during the winter season.
In a strategic meeting held in Srinagar, Director General of CRPF, Dr Sujoy Lal Thaosen, and Director General of Police for Jammu and Kashmir, RR Swain, jointly chaired a high-level gathering of officers from various law enforcement agencies, including J&K Police, CRPF, BSF, CISF, RPF, and intelligence agencies. The primary objective of this meeting was to devise a robust strategy to confront the challenge of terrorism during the winter months.
During this critical meeting, Director General Swain underscored the importance of launching operations in the high-altitude regions to root out the terrorists concealed in those areas. The discussions delved deep into issues related to terrorism, including the presence of foreign and local terrorists in higher elevations and their anticipated attempts to descend from these areas during the winter season.
The meeting also addressed the persistent attempts at infiltration from across the border and the measures taken to deter such incursions. A comprehensive review of all security arrangements for the upcoming winter season was conducted, with field officers providing detailed accounts of the measures and countermeasures designed to ensure the security and safety of the local population.
Several high-ranking officers, including Additional DG CRPF Kashmir Nalin Prabhat, ADGP Kashmir Zone Vijay Kumar, IG BSF Frontier Kashmir Ashok Yadav, and various other dignitaries from CRPF, BSF, CISF, and intelligence agencies attended the meeting.
Director General Swain emphasized the need to enhance capabilities and achieve the desired results in the fight against terrorism. He stressed the importance of leveraging modern technological tools for monitoring the security situation, underscoring the necessity of strengthening the Dial 112 helpline in Police Control Rooms to ensure a swift response to any emergency. Swain called for heightened vigilance against the terror support network that aids terrorists in carrying out their malicious activities. He also emphasized coordinated efforts to dismantle the network of overground workers (OGWs) and hybrid terrorists.
The DGP directed the forces to maintain consistent pressure on elements that disrupt peace, preventing any resurgence of terrorist groups. He urged officers to devise strategies to further consolidate peace in Jammu and Kashmir, emphasizing the need for joint training to tackle law and order situations.
In light of the ongoing infiltration attempts from across the border, the meeting also addressed the deterrence measures taken against such threats. Discussions extended to the creation of a comprehensive database of uncategorized terrorists.
The meeting placed strong emphasis on capacity building, improving communication and coordination among the various security forces to enhance synergy, and sharing intelligence to yield more effective operational results. The officers in attendance contributed valuable suggestions regarding anti-terror operations and measures to further fortify peace in Jammu and Kashmir.
