Over 20 people were injured in a Ferris wheel fire at Germany’s Highfield Festival, with injuries from burns, falls, and smoke inhalation. The cause of the blaze is under investigation.

More than 20 people were injured when a Ferris wheel caught fire at the Highfield Festival near Leipzig, Germany, on Saturday evening. The incident occurred shortly after 9 p.m., with images showing two carriages engulfed in flames and thick smoke rising from the ride.

Saxony police reported that the cause of the fire is still under investigation. Four individuals sustained burn injuries, while another person was treated for injuries related to a fall. Additionally, 18 people, including first responders and police officers, experienced smoke inhalation and were taken to hospitals for treatment.

The area surrounding the Ferris wheel has been cordoned off as police conduct their investigation into the blaze. At the time of the fire, German rapper Ski Aggu was performing onstage. In response to the incident, he expressed his shock and dismay on Instagram, noting that he was advised to continue the show to prevent mass panic.

 

Authorities continue to investigate the cause of the fire and assess the full extent of the damages.
