The Federation of All India Medical Association (FAIMA) has declared a nationwide hunger strike starting on October 9, in response to the alleged rape and murder of a junior doctor at RG Kar Medical College in West Bengal. The incident, which occurred on August 9, has sparked weeks of protests by junior doctors in the state.
FAIMA President Suvrankar Datta expressed solidarity with the junior doctors in West Bengal, stating that their struggle for justice has the support of medical professionals nationwide. “We are united in our stance and will continue to raise our voices for safety and better working conditions,” Datta said.
