Dharoi Dam is set to become a top sustainable tourism hub in North Gujarat. The state government is spearheading a major project to revamp the area, connecting it with nearby attractions such as Vadnagar, Taranga, Ambaji, and Rani Ki Vav, all within a 90 km radius. With an estimated budget of ₹1100 crore, this transformative development will proceed in three phases, aiming to significantly boost regional tourism.
New Attractions to Enhance Tourism
The development plan for Dharoi Dam includes a range of exciting new attractions aimed at enhancing tourism. Specifically, the plan features an Adventure Water Sports Arena, a River Edge Development equipped with leisure facilities and an Amphitheatre, as well as parks like Panchatatva Park and Naad Brahm Upavan. Additionally, a Visitor Centre and a Water Experience Park will be introduced. Consequently, these new amenities are designed to provide a diverse tourism experience, offering everything from adventure sports to cultural activities.
Moreover, the project is expected to be completed within two years, with 80 percent of land acquisition already finalized. To expedite the development, a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model is being explored. The anticipated attractions are projected to draw significant tourist interest, with some already comparing them to the Statue of Unity.
As a result, local residents, including Nareshbhai, the village head of Dharoi, are optimistic that the project will generate employment opportunities and establish Dharoi Dam as a key tourism destination. This development will seamlessly blend spiritual, adventure, and eco-tourism, thus positioning Dharoi Dam as a major economic and cultural hub in North Gujarat
