Delhi’s traffic police are offering a big opportunity for residents. They can now get their traffic fines reduced or even waived altogether.
Delhi Police is now giving a one-time chance extension to Travellers with pending traffic challans, to settle their dues with reduced fines or get complete waivers.
Collaborating with Delhi State Legal services authority, a national Lok Adalat is now going to held on May 11, 2024.
The aim of this Lok Adalat is to settle huge number of pending claims. Especially, the pending payments owed to Delhi’s Traffic police challans or notices.
As per further information provided by Delhi police in their website, the national Lok Adalat will deal with the cases involving compoundable traffic challans including commercial vehicles which are pending till January 31, 2024, on Delhi’s traffic police portal.
Under this process, First, the individuals retrieve or download their notices or challans from Delhi Traffic Website portal (Link to download will be activated at 10 am until the notice limit is exhausted)
Then, Individuals can approach the Adalat to settle their cases or present their matter.
As a result, they get the chance to potentially settle case through a lower amount or have their cases dismissed altogether.
However, due to the non-availability of printing facilities, the individuals must carry their printout of their notices/challans in the court premises.
The sessions will take place in different courts across Delhi which also including Dwarka, Kakardoma, Patiala house, Rohini, Rouse Avenue, Saket and Tis Hazari.
But the individuals must comply with specific regulations based on the type of vehicle they own.
For Private Vehicle: Only 5 notices and Two challans per vehicle is allowed
For Commercial Vehicle: Only 2 notices/challans per vehicle is allowed.
How many challans will the bench dispose: Upto 1,000 challans
How many benches Will be there: 180 is expected to operate
Total Number of Challans Expected to be Addressed: 1,80,000 challans will be dealt with across various courts complexes.
