The Delhi High Court has taken action regarding a video featuring AAP leader Arvind Kejriwal addressing the court on March 28, issuing notices to Sunita Kejriwal, wife of the Chief Minister, as well as social media platforms like Facebook and YouTube. The court directed them to remove or refrain from reposting the said video.

The legal proceedings arose from allegations that Mrs. Kejriwal and certain social media handles associated with AAP and opposition parties had circulated unauthorized copies of the court session online, which included Mr. Kejriwal presenting his defense.

During his impassioned speech to the court, Mr. Kejriwal vehemently defended himself against charges related to an alleged liquor policy scam, asserting his innocence despite being in police custody. He criticized the Enforcement Directorate, accusing them of targeting him unjustly and manipulating testimonies to frame him.

“I was arrested… but no court has proved me guilty,” Mr. Kejriwal asserted, challenging the evidence presented against him by investigative agencies. He also raised concerns about the fairness of the legal process, particularly regarding witness statements allegedly coerced to implicate him.

The Enforcement Directorate had arrested Mr. Kejriwal on March 21 on charges of orchestrating a corruption scheme involving liquor licenses. The agency claimed that bribes amounting to ₹100 crore were funneled into AAP’s election campaigns in Goa and Punjab.

Despite his detention, Mr. Kejriwal secured interim bail from the Supreme Court to continue his political activities during a crucial election period. Meanwhile, his wife Sunita Kejriwal and other party leaders took on prominent roles in AAP, prompting speculation about her potential future in active politics, although Mr. Kejriwal clarified that she had no intention to pursue a political career.

The legal proceedings underscore a contentious chapter in Mr. Kejriwal’s political journey, marked by legal battles and allegations of political persecution. The court’s directive seeks to address concerns over the dissemination of sensitive legal proceedings on social media platforms, ensuring compliance with legal norms.
