Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal commended Water Minister Atishi for her efforts in addressing the current water crisis in the city. After visiting Rajghat, Sunita Kejriwal, Arvind Kejriwal’s wife, spoke to party workers and conveyed her husband’s message, praising Atishi’s decision to begin an indefinite hunger strike at Bhogal.
Expressing concern for the people of Delhi suffering from water scarcity, Sunita Kejriwal quoted the Delhi CM as saying, “When I watch TV, I see people of Delhi are suffering due to water scarcity. It hurts me. I hope Atishi’s ‘tapasya’ will succeed and Delhi people will get relief. I wish all the best to Atishi. May God protect her.”
Atishi initiated her hunger strike in Bhogal to demand more water from Haryana, with Sunita Kejriwal present at the event. Before the hunger strike, Atishi, along with Sunita Kejriwal, Minister Saurabh Bharadwaj, and other leaders, paid tribute to Mahatma Gandhi at Rajghat before heading to Bhogal.
Atishi stated that Haryana had been providing Delhi with 100 million gallons per day less water than its allocated share of 613 MGD for the past two weeks, affecting 28 lakh people in the capital.
