The death toll from a shooting and stabbing attack in Tel Aviv climbed to seven after one of the victims succumbed to his injuries overnight, according to hospital sources on Wednesday. Tel Aviv’s Ichilov Medical Center reported that the critically wounded patient, suffering from severe multi-system damage, passed away despite the efforts of medical staff.
The attack occurred on Tuesday near Tel Aviv’s Jaffa light rail station, leaving six others dead and 17 wounded. Israeli police identified the attackers as residents of the occupied West Bank in their 20s. One assailant was killed, and the other was seriously injured in the incident.
Two of the victims were identified as Israeli citizens Shahar Goldman, 30, and Inbar Segev Vigder, 33.
Since the escalation of violence on October 7, when Hamas launched attacks on southern Israel, Palestinian militants have carried out several attacks on Israelis. Israeli officials report at least 26 Israeli deaths, including members of the security forces, during this period.
Simultaneously, violence in the West Bank has intensified, with at least 682 Palestinians killed by Israeli forces or settlers since October 7, according to the Palestinian Health Ministry.
Tuesday’s attack came on the same day Iran fired a barrage of missiles at Israel, forcing hundreds of thousands of Israelis into public shelters, further escalating the conflict.
