Day after FIR, Malviya’s fresh attack on Rahul Gandhi

A day after a FIR was filed against BJP IT cell leader Amit Malviya for referring to Rahul Gandhi as “dangerous,” Malviya once again slammed Gandhi and his Manipur visit on Thursday, saying Gandhi is no messiah of peace, but rather a political opportunist who wants to “keep the pot boiling.”

When asked why Rahul Gandhi did not visit Manipur while the Congress administration was in power, Malviya stated that Gandhi’s visit was motivated by his “own selfish political agenda.” On Wednesday, the Karnataka Police filed a FIR against Malviya for “instigating people” and “promoting enmity within groups.” The FIR sparked a verbal brawl between BJP and Congress leaders.

Gandhi will arrive in the violence-torn state of Manipur on Thursday and spend two days meeting with civil society members in Imphal and Churachandpur. This visit comes as the Congress continues to criticise Prime Minister Modi’s inaction on the violence in Manipur.
As some BJP supporters questioned why Rahul Gandhi was travelling to Manipur since that he is not even an MP, Congress spokesman Supriya Shrinate responded on Twitter, “What if he is not in any post? He is going to wipe the people’s tears. A country son is going to meet the country’s sons and daughters.”
Commenting on Rahul Gandhi’s US visit, Amit Malviya earlier on 18 June posted a video caricaturing Rahul Gandhi being contacted by the international media to ‘break India’. The video also mocked Rahul Gandhi’s statement that Muslim League is a secular party; India is not a nation but a union of states etc. After the FIR, Malviya reposted the video on Wednesday.
