The counting of votes in the elections held on all 90 assembly seats of the state on October 5 for the 15th Haryana Assembly General Election was completed on Tuesday, October 8, in which BJP has got a absolute majority in the new assembly with 48 seats while Congress could get just 37 seats despite the huge claims of its victory in exit polls. Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) and independents emerged victorious on 3 and 2 seats respectively. In this series, it is noteworthy that the BJP secured its victory across the state with just a small margin of 118198 votes. The BJP has got 5548800 votes i.e. 39.94% votes while the Congress has secured 54 lakh 30 thousand 602 votes i.e. 39.09% votes in the entire state. Thus, the difference in the percentage of votes between the two parties is only 0.85%.
in the results of the 18th Lok Sabha general election held 4 months ago in June 2024, out of the total 10 Lok Sabha seats in Haryana, BJP and Congress 5 seats each but as far as the vote share and total votes received by both the major and national political parties of the country in the entire state are concerned, in this regard BJP had received more than 3 lakh votes than Congress. The BJP, which fielded its candidates on all 10 Lok Sabha seats in Haryana, secured 46.11% votes in the entire state, while the Congress party, which fielded its candidates on the remaining 9 seats except the Kurukshetra Lok Sabha constituency, got only 43.67% votes. If the vote share of the above two parties is converted into votes, then BJP and Congress have got a total of 5996486 and 5679473 votes respectively. Thus , the difference between the vote share secured by both factions was 317 013 votes.
Likewise, the vote share of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), which contested from Kurukshetra Lok Sabha seat as an ally of INDI Alliance (India) along with Congress in Haryana, was only 3.94% and its Kurukshetra Lok Sabha seat candidate Dr. Sushil Gupta got only 513154 votes. If we talk in terms of assembly constituencies, then out of the total 90 assembly constituencies of the state, BJP had a lead in 44, Congress in 42 while its ally AAP got a lead in 4. Hemant said that in the 14th Haryana Assembly General Elections held 5 years ago in October 2019, BJP›s vote share across the state was 36.49% while Congress party›s was 28.08%. If we talk about the votes received, BJP got 4569016 votes across the state in October 2019 while Congress got 3515429 votes. Thus, BJP had received 1053587 votes more than Congress party then.
