Xi Jinping sent his condolences to President Droupadi Murmu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi over the bridge collapse in Gujarat.

Xi said, “On behalf of the Chinese government and the Chinese people, I would like to express our deep condolences to the victims and extend our sincere sympathy to their families and the injured.”

The Morbi district collector said the death toll reached 135 after one more injured died at the District Hospital.

“With one more injured succumbing at the District hospital a while ago, the death toll stands at 135. A total of 14 persons are still hospitalized. One person is still reported to be missing and a search is on for him,” said the Morbi District Collector.

Gujarat Police filed a FIR in the Bridge collapse incident against the private agencies.The FIR has been filed under IPC sections 304 and 308 in the bridge collapse tragedy.

According to the police, the management company neglected to do a proper quality inspection of the bridge and left it open for traffic on October 26. This showed extreme negligence.
According to reports, the bridge was shut down for maintenance for almost 8 months while a private organisation worked on the repairs.
On November 2, Gujarat will observe a day of national mourning in honour of those lost in the Morbi tragedy.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi presided over a high-level meeting at Gandhinagar Raj Bhavan where the decision was made.
On November 2, all state government buildings will fly the flag at half-staff and there won’t be any official gatherings, receptions, or entertainment events.
