In an intense encounter between Naxalites and security forces in the forests of Abujhmad, Narayanpur district, Chhattisgarh, has resulted in the deaths of at least eight Naxalites. The encounter, spanning two days, also saw three security personnel injured, with one brave jawan losing his life. The injured have been airlifted to Raipur for treatment and are reported to be out of danger.
IG Bastar P Sundarraj confirmed the recovery of eight Naxalite bodies, including three women, during the operation conducted jointly by the District Reserved Guards, STF, ITBP, and BSF. The encounter, initiated based on intelligence inputs regarding senior Maoist leaders’ presence, unfolded across the forested terrains of Maad region. Weapons seized from the site include INSAS rifles, .303 rifles, BGL launcher and shells, alongside a substantial ammunition cache.

Security forces continue to comb the area as they recover from one of the deadliest encounters in recent months in Chhattisgarh, where approximately 1,200 jawans have been engaged in anti-Maoist operations. Since January, this operation marks a total of 131 Maoists neutralized in the region.
